Abstract

Abstract : Photo Biomodulation Therapy (PBMT) is a cascade of physiological events induced by the non-thermal exposure of tissue to light at the near infrared end of the visible spectrum. The main clinical effects of PBMT include analgesia, anti-inflammatory effect, and accelerated wound healing. It has become a recognized therapeutic modality for a range of pathologies, including oral disease conditions and a variety of complications of oral cancer treatments. A list of indications for PBMT in oral cancer patients has been proposed; however, the quality of available data for outcome of this therapeutic modality varies significantly. The aim of the study is to assess the significance of PBMT in various mucosal oral lesions.
