Abstract : C Reactive Protein (CRP) is the first acute phase protein which was researched, it increases in inflammation and is an investigative marker for systemic inflammation. Clinical Periodontal Sum Score (CPSS) gives the extent of periodontal inflammation. The aim of the study was to find if there is any correlation between the markers of systemic and periodontal inflammation in chronic periodontitis patients. Methodology: 20 participants took part in the studies that were systemically healthy controls with periodontitis. Parameters studied were CPSS and CRP. Estimation of serum CRP is done using latex enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay. Results: CPSS which ranged from 75–129; the CRP levels ranged from 0.5–3.23. Conclusion: Serum CRP levels definitely increased in patients with chronic periodontitis. Results of this research show a possible relation between markers of systemic and periodontal inflammation.
