Abstract : The objective of the study was to compare gingival tissue response following placement of a light cure and a non-eugenol periodontal dressing after periodontal flap procedure. A total number of 4 patients who will undergo any periodontal surgery were selected and randomly divided into 2 sites- site 1 / site 2. Site 1 will be treated with Coe-pack TM dressing and site 2 will be treated with Barricaid TM dressing. Clinical parameters wound healing index, plaque index, plaque deposition under dressing, modified sulcular bleeding index, discomfort assessment and patients’s preference were recorded and at 7th day and 14th day. Group II showed better results than Group I when plaque scores, bleeding scores, modified gingival index scores, and pain and discomfort scores were compared though the differences were not statistically significant. Subjects found no unpleasant taste/smell and perceived the light‑cured dressing to be better. A significantly higher number of patients preferred light‑cured resin as a post‑surgical dressing over Coe‑pak. The data favourable results in parameters such as colour, consistency, Visual Analog Score , healing index and post-operative bleeding of use of Barricaid group. The light‑cured dressing showed better patient acceptability and proves to be a better alternative to Coe‑pak as a dressing material.
